Matt Brown

Presenter, Weekend Afternoons, Magic FM

Biography

Matt currently presents weekend afternoons across the UK on Magic FM.

Matt has been a radio and television broadcaster for just over fifteen years, presenting on some of the UKs most popular shows like Nickelodeon, The Big Breakfast and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!. Although, he would readily admit that during those fifteen years he has also worked on some of the UKs worst ever shows too!

For the last five years he has been getting up at 3.46am to host his own Heart breakfast radio show. As a result of this he has perfected the art of being able to sleep almost anywhere. His wife and children are not amused by this, particularly when it’s in a restaurant.

Working on TV and radio has meant that Matt has done some really cool things. He has hung out with hundreds of the most famous people in the world from Will Smith and Victoria Beckham, to Iggy Pop and Kermit the frog. He has been strapped to the top of planes, driven huskies in the Arctic Circle, sat in a space shuttle and held snakes in the jungle. He was also once bitten by a dolphin, a moment that he claimed “changed everything”.

Matt has written three books about Compton Valance, a ten-year-old boy who accidentally creates his own time machine. The Most Powerful Boy In The Universe and The Time Travelling Sandwich Bites Back were published in 2014. The third instalment, Super F.A.R.Ts versus The Master Of Time will be published in June 2015.

Matt currently writes his stories in a shed, in his garden, in Buckinghamshire.

Some praise for Matt’s Compton Valance series.

“This is one of the best books I’ve ever read, it is super-duper funny!” Henry aged 10

The Most Powerful Boy In The Universe was the winner of LoveReading4Kids.com Book Of The Year 2014 and was shortlisted for the BASH 2015 Book Awards, the Oxfordshire 2015 Book Awards and the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards.
