Danielle Perry

Presenter, Absolute Radio & Cover Presenter, BBC Radio Sussex

Biography

Danielle has been working in the music and radio industries for the past 20 years.

Danielle fronts the evening show on Absolute Radio and works closely with Q Magazine – who she writes for every month and features them on her specialist show every Sunday. She’s a fan of new music, especially seeking out the underdog and not just following the trend. This has seen her in good stead with a Sony Bronze Award for Best Music Show, a Music Week nomination for 4 years straight for Best Radio Show and a recent nod at the ARIAS for Best Specialist Music Programme. Before Absolute, and from completing her music degree she worked her way up through the ranks – through Kerrang! Radio in Birmingham to finally taking over the evening show from Mary Anne Hobbs at Radio X (formerly XFM).

Her opinion is highly sought after within the industry- this year Danielle joined the Mercury Music Prize judging panel – another addition to a CV that her seen her part of the judging process at the Association of Independent Music Awards for the past 5 years. Danielle regularly hosts events – from corporate to charity to premieres to private parties and is often DJing in London, festival fields or at in-stores.

On top of this side of things, Danielle works alongside Drowned in Sound on their podcast and show on Soho Radio. She also runs a record label, manages an artist and is mum to her two year old daughter. Danielle and her family live in Hove on the south coast.
